The Shoe Compass
This is a really interesting place in the city,
it has very steep roads which wind and turn lots.
Somewhere around here the long straight road starts.
I find the beginning of the road and see the new
recycling bins at the beginning of it.
These are special new bins, where all gets recycled together.
The council have devised a new system
that makes it easy for people to recycle everything,
and so there is much less waste.
I see jo S. He's putting stuff in the bins, and so I learn about it from him.
I find stuff from the bins,
firstly a load of delicious chocolate buns
which I eat hungrily,
and then I find home made spaghetti bolonaise
and sandwiches both in nice boxes,
as if someone had left them here for me.
After quite a time looking in the bins
I notice that the people at the bus stop on the other side of the road
have taken an interest in what I'm up to.
They feel hostile but this is my judgment.
There are about three middle aged men.
I start running up the road to get away from them
but they chase after me.
They have got my shoes; I had left them at the bins.
They sing a song called the "Shoe compass" as they run pass me
and throw me the shoes while singing...
"He's got the shoe shoe shoe shoe compass..." They chant with humour in their voices.
