We have been asked to re-paint this church, and to do painted
lettering and murals throughout it. It is quite a big old church.
We choose colours that may be a little contradictory - bright greens
and golds, reds, yellows, blues...
When we have the big public meeting showing people how we are going to
decorate the church, most people are happy and excited about the new
designs, but a few people really don't like the designs, and complain
and try and stop us from doing them.
We go ahead any way, because you can't please everyone, and some
people are always going to complain.
3 of us do the painting. We have to employ new special brush
techniques for doing around lettering, a splash and dot technique ,
which makes things have a Australian aboriginal look about it.
We work quite quickly because we worry that the people who complained
may try to stop us, by using some bureaucracy, claiming that we have
not checked safety or done proper finances.
We lock the doors and work feverishly.
